Discovery Melbourne’s pop-up dodgeball event a hit for charity

The ‘King of Bogan Bingo’, Darren Hilsley launched his unique new initiative – inflatable Pop Up Dodgeball – on the rooftop at Discovery Melbourne last week, raising over $1000 for charity.

The event was sponsored by Discovery Melbourne and Bunyip Tours and the money raised went to charity Conquer and Care to fund initiatives in Kaloleni, a community in Tanzania.

Founder of the charity Kylie Clancy said, “It was a fantastic result which far exceeded what we envisaged we would raise.”

Discovery Melbourne’s Assistant GM, Anna Heaton said, “Inflatable rooftop dodgeball is as crazy as it sounds and so much fun! The event was a massive success for all involved so the next tournament is already locked in for 23rd March and invites will be out soon.

“While we’ll be doing regular events for backpackers and the tourism industry at Discovery, Darren’s core market is corporate, doing team building events. He’ll have a range of other venues around town and we are happy to share our amazing rooftop space for anyone interested in giving it a go. It’s certainly not something you see every day and how often do you get to throw a ball at your boss!”

This was an amazing idea. We went to the first event and had a great time, especially since we won the tournament :) I’m the guy in the middle with the afro.

Hey Ryan, any chance you can flick me the contact details of the shiela at the end? She’s the one wearing the Dunlop Volleys, holding in a bit of a beer-gut and clutching a stubbie. From what I can see, she looks to be a bit of a babe.
