The ACCC has given Virgin Australia the green light to enter into an alliance with Singapore Airlines.
Under the partnership, the airlines will code-share their international and domestic connecting routes. This will also include joint pricing, marketing, sales and scheduling.
“The ACCC considers that the alliance is likely to lead to increased competition for international air passenger services,” ACCC chairman Rod Sims said in a press release.
Although Singapore Airlines’ has a share in Tiger Airways, the ACCC believes that the alliance is unlikely to lessen Tiger’s incentive to compete in the domestic market.
The ACCC’s determination will be available from the public register on the ACCC website.
