Tourism Queensland and Website Travel are targeting the youth traveller, offering special deals for short-breaks in Queensland.
The $57,000 campaign is funded by the Queensland and federal government’s $12m tourism recovery funding. The campaign will be supported through electronic direct-mail newsletters, online marketing, social media and posters in all Website Travel stores and affiliated agents.
In a press release, Leanne Coddington from Tourism Queensland said: “By offering some fantastic short-break deals – two to three night holiday packages, we hope to attract young people to sunny Queensland to recharge their batteries over the summer break, tapping into the usually busy festive season.”
She added: “Young travellers and backpackers like to take part in a variety of tourism experiences, travel widely and they have the ability and willingness to travel now.
“Queensland welcomed 4.2 million international and domestic youth travellers in the year ending June 2011 and this campaign will allow Tourism Queensland to directly target this important market.”
