Peak English language sector body English Australia (EA) has been confirmed as a sponsor of this year’s Independent Travel Exchange (ITE), the appointment-based trade networking event which takes place in Sydney on November 3.
EA has been working hard to forge closer links with the backpacker sector, with executive director Sue Blundell joining the Backpacker Tourism Advisory Panel (BTAP) to become its first education representative earlier this year.
Blundell said: “There’s been a lot of talk about how the English language industry and the backpacker sector can collaborate, but now it’s time for action. ITE is a fantastic opportunity for the two industries to sit down and do business together and we’re delighted to support the event.”
English Australia joins Adventure Tours Australia and Gold Coast Adventure Travel Group, both of whom sponsored last year’s inaugural event.
Gold Coast Tourism Corporation Manager, Niche Markets David Cox said: “Gold Coast Tourism and the Gold Coast Adventure Travel Group are so excited to come on board as sponsors of ITE again in 2010. The 2009 event was such a success for our destination. Through the high quality appointments and networking event, we were able to establish new business contacts and it was also a great opportunity to catch up with existing clients. We again have seen a growth out of the backpacker market on the Gold Coast and attending ITE was instrumental in achieving this through creating new industry partners and brand exposure. ”
Adventure Tours Australia director Greg Zammit added: “We’re delighted to be a part of ITE for a second year after the huge success of 2009. The event is a great opportunity for like-minded professionals to get together and discuss future business prospects.”
