Topdeck has acquired Connections Adventures in a move which will see the Europe, Egypt and Middle East youth tour operator expand into Australia and New Zealand from April 2010.
Connections Adventures, a division of Australian Pacific Touring (APT), offers a similar product for 18-39-year-old travellers across Australia and New Zealand. APT holds a significant equity share in Topdeck.
From April 2010, Connections Adventures’ operations in Australia and New Zealand will be re-branded Topdeck, with current Connections General Manager Lance Batty at the helm.
Batty said: “Topdeck has experienced tremendous growth in recent years with much of it driven out of Australia and New Zealand, where Topdeck has been represented by Connections. This acquisition creates a fantastic synergy that will allow us to focus on further product development. For example, past Topdeck passengers will have a much broader range of follow-on touring options and our trade partners will be able to contract a global youth product range.”
James Nathan, Managing Director and shareholder of Topdeck established Connections Adventures in 1976. “James has already indicated that he intends to retain the staff culture, product quality and key selling points that Connections Adventures is famous for,” added Batty.
APT will fully retain its Connections Safaris business.
